Best Things To Do in San Pancho Mexico...From Real People

When Camille and I had to take a business trip down to Puerto Vallarta, MX, we knew we had to make the most of it by visiting some local hot spots. San Pancho kept getting recommended to us by locals as a historic, beautiful little hippie beach town less than one hour north of Puerto Vallarta.

San Pancho has a bohemian vibe intermixed with traditional Mexican beach culture and cuisine. If you're searching out beach towns, the first one people often mention is Sayulita, the more popular (and touristy) town about 10 minutes south of San Pancho. Sayulita is the place to be if nightlife is your goal, but if you want a more authentic experience in a slower town, San Pancho is the place to be. For context, you'll find stores like BillaBong and a couple of other American brands in Sayulita--you will find nothing of the sort in San Pancho.

Let's first touch base on where we stayed in San Pancho. Um....this place may have been the best deal we scored in all of 2023. We stayed at this AirBnB beachfront casita with direct beach access. For those who enjoy water activities, the waves here are great for boogie boarding or beginner surfing. Just make sure you watch out for rip tides!
